Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) only when it is medically indicated as a result of
medical intervention, when we will pay for the medical practitioner’s consultations and for
the cost of the implants (but not patches or tablets).
(g)
We will only pay benefits for a maximum of 18 months from the date of the medical
intervention.
7.2
What we do not pay for:
(a)
Treatment of any medical condition which arises in any way from HIV infection.
What cover do I have for psychiatric treatment?
You have cover for the treatment of psychiatric illness, subject to all other benefit limitations and
exclusions on your policy.
If in-patient treatment of a psychiatric illness is needed outside of the UK, it will be necessary for
the policyholder or a family member to contact us. We can then contact the hospital to discuss
your treatment and advise them on the benefits that are available. We can also request that the
hospital send their bills directly to us.
Should you need to stay in hospital longer than was initially agreed, then we will ask the medical
practitioner to provide further details to enable us to assess why further treatment is necessary.
7.3
We pay for eligible:
(a)
Treatment of psychiatric illness.

What we do not pay for:
(a)
Treatment which arises from or is directly or indirectly caused by a deliberately self-inflicted
injury or an attempt at suicide (see also

(b)
Treatment of or treatment which arises from or is in any way connected with, alcohol
abuse, drug abuse or substance abuse (see also
).
(c)
Benefits for more than 100 days in your lifetime for in-patient treatment of psychiatric
illness.
